TRAINING & ENRICHMENT

Already a licensed pilot? Awesome! Come build real experience and sharpen your skills training with us.

WHAT ARE TRAINING ENRICHMENT COURSES?

Our programs go beyond just checking boxes for ratings. We focus on helping pilots truly understand what they’re learning and apply it in real-world scenarios. Whether you're working toward your next certificate or just want to sharpen your skills, we offer hands-on flight training, collaborative ground instruction, and enrichment events that build both confidence and community. From scenario-based sim sessions to guest speaker nights and advanced flight workshops, everything we do is designed to make you a safer, smarter, and more connected pilot.

Many of these enrichment activities are paired with FAA WINGS credit and structured flight training, helping pilots expand their knowledge base while earning recognition for continuous improvement.

WHAT IS WINGS? WHY SHOULD I CARE?

The FAA WINGS Program is a voluntary safety training program that helps you stay sharp, current, and connected to real-world flying practices. When you complete a mix of approved ground and flight activities, you earn WINGS credits—and completing a full "phase" of WINGS can even replace your entire flight review.

  • Keeps your skills sharp and up to date

  • Full WINGS phase can replace your entire flight review

  • Shows a proactive approach to safety and learning

  • Looks great on resumes or when applying to flying jobs

  • Encouraged by the FAA and many aviation employers

  • Helps to discount rental insurance prices

At The Pilots Collective, we're exploring options for a future on-field location to host in-person training and enrichment classes. While these classes aren’t available just yet, they’re a key part of our vision. We’re working toward creating a space where pilots can come together for hands-on workshops, FAA WINGS-credit sessions, and real-world learning in a supportive, community-focused environment. Stay tuned—they’re on our radar and coming soon.

HOW DO I JOIN?

TEC Courses are held on Sundays and are open to anyone looking to build real-world aviation knowledge in a collaborative setting. To join, simply fill out the form linked below to get in touch with our team and we will try to get you scheduled for the class you'd like to take.

We offer two types of courses:

  • TEC-G (Ground Only): A focused ground course designed to build deep understanding of key topics.

  • TEC-GF (Ground + Flight): Combines the TEC-G curriculum with optional flight lessons taught by one of our partnered instructors.

While we only charge for the ground portion, your flight lessons are scheduled and paid separately with the instructor’s independent LLC.

After you complete a class, if it's a TEC-GF, we’ll connect you with a qualified instructor who can fly that specific course with you. All classes require a minimum of 6 students, are priced at just $10 per hour, and are taught by experienced instructors who are part of our trusted community. Whether you’re working toward a rating or just want to grow your skills, TEC Courses are a flexible, affordable way to move forward with purpose.

WHY JOIN US?

Imagine being more than just proficient, we take that a step further. Our TEC classes are designed to build real understanding, not just rote memorization. You’ll get practical, real-world insight from experienced instructors who know how to connect the dots between theory and application. Each session is focused on helping you save time, money, and frustration by accelerating your progress and building confidence in every lesson. Plus, when you join, you’re supporting a greater mission: part of your enrollment helps fund scholarships for other students working toward their aviation goals.

What sets The Pilots Collective apart from any other flight school / club:

  • Community comes first – You're joining a supportive group of pilots, not just a school

  • Students are teammates – We treat you with respect and work together toward your goals

  • Real-world training – We don’t settle for the bare minimum—we prepare you for what flying is really like

  • Instructor collaboration – Our team meets regularly to stay consistent and bring fresh insight

  • Lower training costs – No cuts taken from instructors or aircraft owners

  • Support others while you learn – A portion of class fees helps fund scholarships for fellow students

  • Earn FAA WINGS credit – Many of our classes qualify toward your WINGS safety program

FLIGHT REVIEWS

Our flight reviews are designed to go beyond the minimum. Each session is tailored to your experience level and flying goals, covering both the required ground and flight portions while emphasizing real-world safety, sound decision-making, and current regulations. Whether it’s been 24 months or you’re just looking for a solid refresher, we’ll help you build confidence, correct bad habits, and fly with purpose. We don’t limit training to the minimum just to meet legal requirements. We focus on making sure you’re truly ready.

During your flight review with The Pilots Collective, you can expect a thorough and practical refresher that covers everything required and more. On the ground, we’ll review airspace, weather interpretation, regulations, and local procedures, while also asking questions to assess your understanding and decision-making. In the air, you'll demonstrate maneuvers like slow flight, stalls, steep turns, takeoffs and landings, and emergency procedures. We’ll also cover real-world scenarios such as handling ATC in busy airspace, abnormal operations, and complex taxi instructions. Our goal is to not only meet FAA requirements, but to help you walk away more confident, more prepared, and more in tune with safe flying practices.

BUSY AIRSPACE FAMILIARIZATION

Busy Airspace Familiarization Flights are designed to build your confidence and skills in high-traffic, controlled environments. We don’t just fly around busy airspace—we take you directly into it, so you can gain real experience navigating Class B and C procedures, working with ATC, and handling clearances. On the ground, we cover complex airport layouts, confusing taxi routes, and proper radio phraseology to keep you ahead of the curve. These flights are all about boosting your situational awareness, communication, and decision-making in the places where it matters most.

We offer two distinct Busy Airspace Familiarization flight options. The first is a regional multi-leg VFR route from Prescott (KPRC) to Tucson (KTUS), Phoenix Sky Harbor (PHX), Scottsdale (KSDL), and back to Prescott, designed to immerse students in Class B and C operations, complex taxi environments, and high-density radio work. The second is a full-day IFR-focused flight for instrument students, flying from Prescott to Needles (KEED), Twentynine Palms (KTNP), Ontario (KONT), Las Vegas (KLAS), and back to Prescott. This 8-hour flight (4 hours out, 4 hours back) is built to meet commercial long cross-country and IFR experience requirements while providing exposure to busy terminal airspace and real-world route planning.

EMERGENCY PROCEDURES

You’ll never know when an emergency will hit—and that’s exactly why preparation matters. Our emergency procedures training covers real-world scenarios like engine failures, electrical malfunctions, lost communication, and upset recovery. You’ll learn how to recognize problems early and respond with clear, confident action. These sessions are designed to build muscle memory, sharpen decision-making, and help you stay in control when things don’t go as planned. It’s not just about training—it’s about being truly prepared.

AQP—Advanced Qualification Program—is currently an airline industry standard focused on scenario-based training and proficiency over minimums. At The Pilots Collective, we believe general aviation deserves the same standard. That’s why we’re working to bring AQP-inspired training into the GA world, helping pilots at every level train with purpose, realism, and readiness.

IMC ORIENTATION

This lesson is designed for all pilots—whether you're VFR-only, training for your instrument rating, or already an instructor. VFR pilots will experience firsthand how disorienting flying in the clouds can be, helping build weather awareness and respect for limitations. IFR students will gain confidence by safely entering and operating in actual IMC, developing familiarity with real-world conditions. For instructors, this is an opportunity to sharpen skills and build comfort teaching in the clouds. It’s all about increasing safety, awareness, and capability when visual references disappear.

AIRCRAFT MASTERY

This lesson is all about knowing your aircraft inside and out. From mastering the layout of your panel to understanding system behaviors and instrument flows, we focus on building confidence and precision in the way you fly. You'll learn how to monitor your instruments efficiently, respond to subtle changes, and fly with intention—not just reaction. Whether you're new to a cockpit or refining your skills, this session helps turn “getting by” into true command of the aircraft.

ADDITIONAL ENDORSMENTS

Looking to expand your privileges or sharpen specific skills? We offer training for common endorsements such as complex, high-performance, tailwheel, and high-altitude operations. Each session is tailored to your experience level and aircraft type, ensuring you meet both FAA requirements and real-world proficiency standards. Our goal isn’t just to sign your logbook—it’s to make sure you’re fully prepared and confident in the aircraft you’re qualified to fly.
